How To Install Kinky Curly Weave

by Tyler Drisdelle October 03, 2017

When it comes to installing kinky curly weave, it must be done to perfection so that it naturally blends with your hair. While there are several styling options available, but I’ve kept things simple and straightforward.

Unfortunately, a lot of women know how to style those traditional twist-outs, wash & gos, protective styling, and braid-outs but they find it hard to install their newly bought kinky curly weave.

Install Kinky Curly Weave

That being said; here are five unique styling options to follow that will rock your curly weave while giving it a protective styling.

These are probably the best ways to install a curly weave.

1. Short & Sweet

This installation method is unique and fun to follow. The instructor in the video below explained beautifully how to blend your weave with your hair whether it be short or long.

You’ll be using 4-5 rows of clip-in hair, which gives an extra thick volume without being over-powering.

She started with curling her natural hair before installing the weave.

This gave a nice texture on the sides, and it seamlessly blends the kinky weave with her hair.

Though it is easy, must be carefully done.

2. Middle Part With Two Twists

This method for installing your weave is actually for hairs of all lengths, especially the ones that are shorter and desperate for a longer style.

In the video below, the woman twisted her natural hair from the back. This gave a nice casual curly look even before she installed her weave.

Now for the weave, she used hair clip-ins while ensuring that her natural hairstyle doesn’t get disturbed.

This finely blended the weave and gave it a nice texture.

You may have to warm the weave to match it with your hair, but it depends more on the type of weave you are using.

3. Tapered Cut With Clips In Curls

This method of installing your kinky weave is probably the most stylish and commonly used.

It is made for women with a tapered cut, and there is a misconception that tapered cut hair has limited styling options.

 No, they don’t.

The below tutorial by LISA walks you through a great styling option for tapered hair.

Since Lisa also has a tapered cut; you’ll get a better understanding of adding your weave.

She used clip-ins and set them on perm roads which gave a fresh look.

4.  Big Hair Twist Out

I love this style a lot. Thanks to Maria Antoinette for her kinky weave videos that perfectly describes how to install on a long hair.

Watch the below video and follow step-by-step instructions for an extra volume of curly look.

5. The Goddess Twist

The last styling option is by Nae 2 Curly and probably the simplest one to follow.

You can use curly weave of any brand and follow this video to install it.

Basically, the leave out area in this type of styling is small, so it is pretty easy to implement.
